The aim of Education Matters Yearbook is to provide, in concise format, a comprehensive record of the key happenings in Irish education in the last academic year. It contains factual information, as well as commentary by leaders and experts from across the entire spectrum of education.
We are delighted to welcome the new editor of Education Matters Yearbook, Dr Tony Hall, an academic at NUI Galway who has a deep interest in the educational sciences and new media in education, and a keen appreciation of the value of Education Matters Yearbook.
Dr Hall is a Lecturer in Educational Technology at NUI Galway's School of Education, where he teaches on a range of programmes at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Formerly a post-primary teacher (Physical Education, English, ICT and SPHE), his principal research areas are the Learning Sciences, narrative and educational technologies.
Speaking of Edcuation Matters Yearbook, Dr Hall said:
"This is a living, contemporaneous history of the key developments in Irish education. Accessible, current and engaging, it provides an invaluable, unified resource of information about education - practice, policy and pedagogy. I am delighted to take on the role of Editor."
It is important for Irish education that all the partners - all of whom are represented in the book - cooperate to establish this publication on a firm and permanent footing as an annual resource for education professionals and others interested in education. There is no comparable repertory of educational information in Ireland.
