Irish Conversation Circle for TDs and Senators
On March 4, Senators and TDs from all political parties were in attendance at Conradh na Gaeilge’s first Irish conversation circle in Leinster House.
This new conversation circle is a further development of Conradh na Gaeilge’s ‘Is Leor Beirt’ scheme, the national network of Irish-language conversation circles launched in November 2009 to give people a chance to practise speaking Irish.
It is hoped that the Leinster House Circle will provide a contact point for politicians with both a little and a lot of Irish, and will also help members of the Oireachtas to overcome their fear of speaking the language by providing a safe, friendly and informal setting in which they can practise their cúpla focal.
