Talent show for Irish-medium post-primary schools

GAELSCOILEANNA TEO has announced dates for Scléip! 2010, the national talent competition for Irish-medium and Gaeltacht post-primary schools.

The competition began in 2005 and has grown steadily since then. Its aim is to encourage pupils attending Irish medium post-primary schools to use their Irish in the performing arts by giving them the opportunity to take part in an exciting and entertaining event.

The talent show is divided into eight different categories:

  • Solo music,
  • Creative dance (solo),
  • Creative dance (group),
  • Pop/Rock music,
  • Solo singing,
  • Music groups,
  • Drama/mime,
  • Variety acts.

Gaelscoil pupils are encouraged to use Irish in their music and drama and the hope is that today's pupils will be inspired in the same way as ex-gaelscoil pupils before them, such as members of Kíla, the Frames and Dara Ó Briain.
