Conference on Research-Teaching linkages

The Annual Conference of the National Academy for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (NAIRTL) takes place in TCD, 11-12 Nov.

EVENT:  3rd Annual Conference of the National Academy for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (NAIRTL)
THEME: Research-Teaching Linkages: PRACTICE and POLICY
DATE: 11-12 November 2009
VENUE: Hamilton Building, Trinity College Dublin

The aim of the conference is to uncover best practice in the development of research-teaching links and to identify potential policy supports to help shape these links.

The programme will feature keynote talks, invited papers, workshops, a poster session, and a panel discussion chaired by Dr John Bowman on the “role of national research funding organisations in shaping teaching and learning”. Panel members include:

  • Dr Mairéad O’Driscoll, HRB,
  • Ms Dipti Pandya, IRCHSS,
  • Mr Martin Hynes, IRCSET,
  • Professor Nicholas Canny, RIA,
  • Professor Frank Gannon, SFI.

The conference dinner (€60) will take place in the Old Jameson Distillery Building. There will be a guided tour of the Distillery, followed by music and entertainment.

NOTE: The Graduate Education theme of the NAIRTL conference coincides with the second day of the 4th Level Network conference, organised by the Irish Universities Association (IUA) and titled: "The Evolving Landscape of Irish Graduate Education". Joint sessions between the two conferences will be featured under this theme.
