KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Professor Frank Gannon, Director General of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and Seminar host, Martin Mullins, Vice-President of Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research.
PRESENTATIONS BY: A number of SFI-funded researchers and industry collaborators, who are the drivers to achieving the strategic objectives of SFI.
This half-day seminar will highlight a cross-section of research being carried out by Science Foundation Ireland-funded researchers and industry collaborators. In recent years, Ireland has made significant progress in building its scientific research capacity.
In its document, "Building Ireland's Smart Economy: A Framework for Sustainable Economic Renewal", the Irish Government has set down a bold vision that "Ireland, by 2013, will be internationally renowned for the excellence for its research, be at the forefront in generating and using new knowledge for economic and social progress, within an innovation-driven culture".
The seminar will also provide an insight into the dynamic and collaborative nature of the Irish research landscape.
