Event: Opening of Notre Dame Junior School, Upper Churchtown Road, D 14.

In the late 1990s, the future of the Notre Dame schools in Churchtown was uncertain. However, the future viability of the schools was secured due to:

• the cooperation of the Sisters of Notre Dame des Missions (who have withdrawn from their former role in education),
• the sterling efforts of a charitable trust (the Notre Dame Trust Company)
• the sterling efforts of parents and local interested parties.

Not only were the schools saved for future generations, but funding was also put in place for the development of an entirely new Junior School. The opening of this Junior School represents the culmination of these efforts.
