An evening with an inspirational headmistress

Marie Stubbs, the former headmistress who led a team in building one of Britain’s most difficult schools, will be speaking in Dublin on May 14.

Marie Stubbs led a government appointed task force to save St. George’s Roman Catholic Secondary School in London, following the fatal stabbing of its head teacher, Philip Lawrence, as he struggled to separate brawling pupils leaving for home.

The incident led to public demand for change, not only at St. George's, but across the entire British education system.

The radical approach taken by Lady Stubbs and her team is credited with establishing new guidelines on best practice and school management, with a strong focus on student inclusion, achievement and self value.

A popular, funny and inspirational public speaker, Lady Stubbs now addresses audiences on effective leadership and strong management, inspiring academic institutions and businesses alike to achieve outstanding results in even the most difficult circumstances.

The story of her experiences at St George's, in one of London's poorest boroughs, continues to form the basis of her lectures.

While Marie's radical approach has its roots in tragedy, the determined, imaginative and original methods she advocates have the power to inspire both private businesses and public organisations.

'An evening with Marie Stubbs' is organised by educational supplier examCRAFT, in association with 4schools.ie, EducationCareers.ie and The Super Generation.

It will be held at the D4 Inn (formerly Jury's Hotel) in Dublin on May 14 and is open to everybody.
