Tenth anniversary of primary school curriculum
To mark the occasion, the NCCA has launched a project, ‘Get Snapping!’, which invites primary schools to submit photos of the curriculum in action.
The NCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment) is inviting all primary schools to submit digital photos with a suitable caption of the curriculum in action.
The Primary School Curriculum was launched in 1999. It aims to develop the full potential of every child while recognising the uniqueness of each child.
The purpose of the 'Get Snapping!' project is to acknowledge and share the work and dedication of schools in guiding and supporting children’s learning with this curriculum over the past ten years.
Teachers, children and parents are encouraged to select photos that capture the 'blink and you’ll miss it' learning moments of teaching and learning. These will be displayed regionally in education centres in the autumn and they will also be posted on the NCCA website.
This will give the public an opportunity to see the exciting and creative work which goes on in classrooms around the country.
For sample photos of the primary curriculum in action, visit www.getsnapping.ncca.ie.
Schools are also invited to submit their stories outlining how they have developed children’s learning in a particular subject or area of the curriculum.
The project is being supported by the Education Centre Network, with 30 local centres nationwide led by Mayo Education Centre.
Information about this project and the Primary School Curriculum is available on the NCCA website at www.ncca.ie
